Dupuytren’s Contracture
Dupuytren’s Contracture is the formation of progressive fibrosis of the palmar fascia of the hand. The fingers gradually lose extension with the development of contractures of the hand. The cause is unknown, but a genetic link is evident and this disease is more common in males and those of Northern European lineage. The course of this disease is variable – some patients develop rapid progression and finger contractures while others have a more indolent course.
Treatment
A non-surgical treatment of Dupuytren’s is offered in this office. This treatment involves the injection of Clostridial histolyticum collagenase into the Dupuytren's lesion. This highly effective treatment unravels the cord.
